Doug Young has been a Development Officer with Dundee City Council’s Economic Growth team since 2021 – working with colleagues and stakeholders to support both existing businesses and inward investment enquiries with a range of services, with a particular sectoral focus on the digital economy and Dundee’s digital infrastructure.
In this capacity, Doug works with stakeholders across the public sector, private sector, and academia to strengthen Dundee and the Tay Cities Region’s digital/tech ecosystem.
Additionally, Doug engages with suppliers and the Scottish/UK Governments to support the deployment of fixed and mobile digital infrastructure through commercial deployments and infill programmes,
Previously, Doug worked in economic development and smart cities roles at Perth and Kinross Council, as well as acting as a regional project coordinator with the Scottish Cities Alliance for the 8th City Programme’s Open Data workstream.
Dundee City Council – Planning and Economic Development
Dundee City Council’s Planning and Economic Development division is responsible for the formulation and maintenance of the development plan for the city of Dundee. This plan provides the basis for all planning decisions, strategy and project development. The Planning Division also provides a complete Development Management and Building Standards service to the Council. The Economic Development Division works towards the goals of building a strong and sustainable city economy and improving employment outcomes for the people of Dundee.
The Economic Growth Team offer information and support with dedicated expertise, data and knowledge on the main growth sectors. Our sector officers have access to networks, relevant business events and information on potential financial assistance. With our partners, we can provide information on the availability of suitable commercial property throughout the region.
